About Our 2 Hour Hand Building/ Glazing Class
Our 2 hour pottery hand building or glazing class is a shortened version of our regular 2.5 hour classes. We offer a freestyle class, where you are encouraged to let your creativity and personal style take over and create unique piece to take home! Your ticket includes two hours of class time, unlimited clay, instructor's assistance, and a firing of one piece.

Important Information for First Time Students:
Glazes can only be applied to fired pottery, so two separate class bookings are required to get a finished food safe piece. Pieces picked up after the first class can be used for decorative purposes only.
This class does not involve usage of a pottery wheel.

Our Clay
At our studio we use stoneware clay which is dense pottery fired at high temperatures to make it resistant to liquids. It is made from clay, but is more durable than other kinds of pottery and earthenware. Stoneware gets its name from its stone-like qualities. It is considered one of the most food safe types of clay due to its non porous nature, but your piece still needs to be glazed after the first firing to become food safe. Stoneware pieces are easy to clean and are soft and pleasing to the touch.

Firing & Glazing
Firing Process:
Firing of one regular sized piece per person is included. Firing fee for all additional pieces can be paid for at the end of the class via card or cash. Firing fee is 5$ plus HST for a regular sized piece and 10$ for pieces over 10 inches (please note that if your first piece is over 10 inches, additional 5$ will be charged at the end of the class). In the event you do not wish to fire any pieces after your class, the cost of the ticket will not be adjusted.
Firings take up to 3 weeks to complete. Once pieces are fired, we upload pictures of them on our website on the "Firing Updates" page. Once you see your piece there you can then pick it up during class hours or book another class for glazing. Pieces are kept for 4 weeks after the pictures are posted.
Our studio is not responsible for your piece possibly getting broken during the firing process. While we handle all pieces with utmost carefullness, piece's breakage is, unfortunately, an unavoidable part of pottery.

Glazing Process:
You may choose to have your piece glazed after the first firing. You can book any of our hand building/glazing classes to glaze your piece.
Your piece will need to be fired again after glazing following the same pricing and timeline as the first firing.

Please note that your ticket is non-refundable, but can be transferred to a different date with at least 7 days notice. We are not able to reschedule booking less than 7 days in advance regardless of the time of booking. In the event of a last minute cancellation, you can invite another person to come in instead of you. Please notify us about it and provide person's name and contact information.
